TORONTO, ONMuddy York Brewing has announced the release of a pair of beers that commemorate the true meaning of Cinco de Mayo.

As the brewery explains:

Cinco de Mayo celebrates Mexico’s 1862 triumph over Napoleon’s forces in the Battle of Puebla. It is not, as many believe, Mexico’s Independence Day. Fast forward 156 years, and here at the Muddy York Brewing Co., we’re sticking it to Napoleon one more time with the release of two beers.

Cervisia Saison with Guava (5.8% abv, 25 IBU) is a brand new beer that is described as follows:

Reimagining the Battle of Puebla, this classic European beer is deliciously attacked by a native Mexican fruit, but this time, everybody wins. Lightly funky, super fruity, and easy drinking as the day is long.

Storm Glass IPA (7% abv, 40 IBU) is a returning favourite, with the following notes:

Our juicy, tropical New England style IPA, it’s big and hoppy, but thoroughly balanced and ridiculously drinkable.

Both beers are available now on tap and in 355 ml cans at the Muddy York taproom and retail store. They’ll also be pouring during Muddy York’s Cinco de Mayo party taking place at the brewery tomorrow from 12:00 noon to 5:00 PM, and featuring a piñata, Mariachi music, Micheladas, and tacos by Craft Beer Market.

TORONTO, ON – A group of 10 breweries in Toronto’s east end have announced the formation of an “organizing body for events and initiatives benefiting the collective’s members as well as the community at large.”

The Toronto East Brewery Collective has been founded by Brunswick Bierworks, Common Good Brewing, Eastbound Brewing, Godspeed Brewery, Left Field Brewery, Louis Cifer Brew Works, Muddy York Brewing, Radical Road Brewing, Rorschach Brewing, and Saulter Street Brewery.

TORONTO, ON – Muddy York Brewing has announced the release of a new limited edition beer brewed for a special historical event.

Victorian Secrets (5.2% abv, 20 IBU) is a “delicate, juicy American Pale Ale” with the following backstory:

William Lyon Mackenzie, the first Mayor of Toronto and one of the great architects of Canada’s democratic institutions is an odd choice as an inspiration for a new beer. He gave up drinking (and gambling) at the age of twenty-one. However, he was a rebel and a radical and has oversized importance in this city we call home. So, when we were approached to partner with the Mackenzie House (the museum located at W.L. Mackenzie’s home on Bond St.) for an event about beer in the Victorian Era, we were inspired to create a new single-hop pale ale featuring juicy, floral, and tropical Vic Secret.

Victorian Secrets will be available today in can and on tap at Muddy York, and will also be one of the beers featured at the Victorian Beers event taking place at Mackenzie House next Thursday August 30th.

Muddy York Brewing Releasing The Legend of Bernard Grodziskie

$

TORONTO, ON – Muddy York Brewing has announced the release of its version of a distinctive and rarely seen beer style.

The Legend of Bernard Grodziskie (3.5% abv) is a grodziskie, a traditional Polish beer that is “brewed with 100% oak-smoked wheat malt, [has] high levels of carbonation, a unique mineral character, and [is] typically less than 4% ABV.”

The name of the beer pays tribute to the following folk tale:

Bernard of Wabrzeźno was a Benedictine monk who, legend has it, prayed that the depleted well of Grodzisk be replenished so that the town-folk would be able to continue to produce beer – their primary source of income. Bernard’s prayers resulted in magically refilling the well water and purportedly giving it healing powers; curing any ill person who drank from it. The new Grodzisk-style beer produced using Bernard’s miraculous water was said to be superior to any they’d brewed before.

The Legend of Bernard Grodziskie will be released on Saturday February 2nd in 500 ml bottles and on tap at the Muddy York retail store and taproom.
